A tale of Eurydice & Orpheus
A joyful 45-minute exploration of love, music, and hope for the future.
The Orpheus myth opens with the death of Eurydice, but their story began long before that. Join them on a haphazard journey through an unfamiliar city in this pop-up prequel, encountering music from South Asian and European classical styles to folk, blues and soul. A perfect introduction to this timeless myth, and to opera itself.
Part of Opera North’s Orpheus season, also featuring: Monteverdi and Jasdeep Singh Degun’s Orpheus, Gluck’s Orfeo ed Euridice, and Testament’s Orpheus in the Record Shop.
Opera North in collaboration with South Asian Arts-uk. In Newcastle this production is in collaboration with GemArts.
